Insulate a transformer, motor or coil winding

The need: You need to insulate windings, hold coils and provide layer-to-layer dielectric protection in a transformer, motor or battery.

Acetate cloth tape is the electronics standard for winding insulation: good dielectric strength, heat resistance (~105–130 °C), easy clean tearing and strong ink/paint absorption. Choose a flame-retardant, UL 510-recognised grade for compliance.

For higher heat (H-class), move to glass-cloth tape.

How to choose

Getting it right in 3 steps

1

Pick acetate for standard heat

~105–130 °C winding and layer insulation.

2

Require UL 510 if specified

Choose a UL-recognised flame-retardant acetate grade.

3

Use glass-cloth for H-class

180–200 °C+ windings need glass-cloth tape.
