Acetate Cloth Tape for Transformer & Motor Insulation
Why acetate cloth tape is the electronics standard for transformer and motor winding insulation, and when to specify UL 510 flame-retardant grades.
Acetate cloth tape is the industry-standard insulation tape for electronics. Woven acetate gives good dielectric strength, heat resistance (~105–130 °C), easy clean tearing and strong ink/paint absorption — ideal for transformer layer insulation and motor coil wrapping.
Why black and white sell most
Black absorbs light and ink well (anti-glare) and is the most common colour in displays and electronics; white is the second best seller.
Certifications matter here
For compliance, specify a flame-retardant grade manufactured to UL 510 Recognised / Class A insulation — it noticeably improves conversion with electronics buyers. For H-class (180–200 °C+) windings, step up to glass-cloth tape. See acetate cloth tape.
